It is important to realize that any resident can use any of the Sports facilities whether or not they have registered for HMSG and/or one or more Sports groups.
In other words, simply stopping down and using a sports facility is fine if it has not already been scheduled by anyone.
To ensure that you don’t run into conflicts, it makes sense to simply schedule the resource that you would like to utilize ahead of time.
[In such a case, the group who made the reservation would have the right to the court]
We Use SKEDDA to maintain our reservations!
If you would like to stay informed of HMSG plans and events, make sure you join HMSG if you have not already done so. You will be added to that mailing list.
Likewise, if you want to know what’s going on in particular sport groups, let them know so they can add you to their unique mailing list.
SKEDDA pronounced /sked-dah/
is a web based software system used by Hershey’s Mill for scheduling court time. Being web based means that you can schedule future playing time from any browser on any device you have. Court time can be scheduled for the following Sports Groups:
Tennis in the Mill is expanding and we are increasing play time and court time to accommodate the increased interest in our various tennis programs. We have Four beautiful “Tiger Turf” courts. We also have access to our ball machine for practice. We have an active tennis community hungry for more players, programs and comradery.
In addition to the round robin tennis we have an Interclub team and a USTA team.
The month of May brings the start of the Senior Men’s League (aka interclub tennis) season. The League consists of teams from ten clubs in Southeastern Pennsylvania and includes Aronimink, Merion, Philadelphia Cricket, and Idle Hour. The minimum age is generally 60 years old. An objective of the League is to provide competitive doubles matches for the players, typically five teams per match and nine matches per season.
Modern tennis balls must conform to certain criteria for size, weight, deformation, and bounce criteria to be approved for regulation play. The International Tennis Federation (ITF) defines the official diameter as 6.54–6.86 cm (2.57–2.70 inches). Balls must have masses in the range 56.0–59.4 g (1.98–2.10 ounces).
The standard length for an adult tennis racquet is 27 inches, but racquets are available in lengths ranging from 26.5 to 29 inches (29 inches is the legal maximum for tournament play).
