Singers & (acoustic) musicians wanted!!
A new musical opportunity for fun and camaraderie is now finally here at Hershey’s Mill! After postponing gathering together for several months due to Covid, now that Chester County’s transmission rates have gone down to a reasonably safe level, the H.M. Folk Song Circle held their first gathering in November. As long as the Covid rates remain at a safe level, they group plans to hold monthly meetings on the third Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the main room of the Community Center.
PLEASE NOTE: for everyone’s safety, ONLY those who have been fully vaccinated should plan on attending.
Those attending The Folk Song Circle will have a great time singing, playing and sharing songs. (Listeners are welcome, too!) The coordinators of the group have put together a songbook (with lyrics and chords) for those attending to choose songs from. The songs focus on all aspects of folk music: traditional, old timey, blues, folk rock, singer/songwriter compositions, and even a little rock and roll. Any acoustic instrument is welcome Musicians are encouraged to bring along a capo and a music stand if they have them, and any musician who would like to show up a little earlier than the 7:00 start time to tune up and run through a couple of songs is welcome to do so. We’re hoping there are lots of “old folkies” here in Hershey’s Mill who’ll want to join in (c’mon, you know you’ve been thinking about getting that dusty guitar out of the closet and tuning ‘er up!). Want to join in?
Please be in touch with Lynne Urian of Merrifield Village (see directory) for more details, and to request being added to the group’s email list for information and up dates.
