This video shows CPR combined with Use of the AED.

Be Prepared – You just might save someone’s life!

Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) can happen to anyone – anywhere. Immediate treatment is vital, and a victim’s chance of survival dramatically decreases for every minute without treatment. According to the American Heart Association (AHA) Guidelines, when bystanders provide CPR and use an AED to deliver a shock within 3 minutes of collapse, before emergency services arrive, survival rates can increase as high as 74%.

Elderberries Free Concert, Pavilion, October 25, 3pm-5pm.

HM Quiet Reading Club

This Club is loosely modeled on the Silent Book Club movement with thousands of Chapters worldwide. Here are our simple guidelines: We meet for an hour of quiet reading of any book we choose to bring, including on a kindle or handheld device. Unlike a traditional book club, there is no book chosen or assigned by us. After that, those who wish to stay for an additional half hour to share their reading choices and recommendations, or general love of reading, are welcome to do so.

Hershey’s Mill Name Tags

You may have noticed Hershey’s Mill residents wearing a name tag with a Hershey’s Mill logo. The Name Tags are a nice way to introduce yourself at community or group events.  Once a year, and occasionally with enough requests, twice a year, as a Community service, the HM Sports Committee takes orders for name tags for those who wish to order them. We encourage everyone to wear their name tags to all events here in Hershey’s Mill. Any individual HM resident or group of residents may order the Name Tags.  They are good for Bridge, Mahjong, Villages or any other HM group or individual who wants to help residents recognize and remember each other.  They are great ice breakers also for when someone can’t quite remember your name or when you are a new resident. Description The Name Tags can be either magnetic or pin tags (pin is preferred if you have a pacemaker) and will include your first and last name, village name and the HM Logo. The Name Tags are 1 1/2″ x 3″. They are plastic and silver with black lettering. The Name Tags have the HM logo on them. See below for a photo example.
To Order A Name Tag:
  1. Please fill out the attached form or carefully print ALL the information on a full size piece of paper. Write your name as you want it on the name tag. Be sure to write clearly and provide ALL the information requested.
  2. Place the order form and cash or a check for $13.00, made out to Hershey’s Mill Sports, in an envelope OR print all the information requested below on a full size sheet of paper. Print clearly and carefully so we get correct spelling.
  3. Write your Name, Village Name, Phone Number, and Street Number on the outside of the envelope.
  4. Drop the envelope with the form or all requested information printed on a piece of paper, cash or a check, and your name, phone number and street number in the box or basket on the front porch of Carroll Thompson Blank Order forms will also be available on the front porch. LAST CALL is Nov 1 at 4 PM. OUT OF TOWN? Mail your order and check now so it arrives by November 1. Or have a friend or neighbor drop it off. Your Name Tag will be held until you return.

CONSERVATION CENTER FOR ART & HISTORIC ARTIFACTS (CCAHA)

Caring for Your Treasured Items

Nearly everyone has something in their home that is important to them personally, to their family, or to their wider community that they wish to preserve for the future. It could be a signed first edition novel, a family scrapbook, historic photographs of the town your grandparents are from, or a ticket stub from when the Phillies last won the World Series. You may not consider yourself to be a “cultural heritage steward”, but you are!

The CCAHA Presentation will offer guidance about caring for different kinds of material in a home setting, including practical tips on how to properly store and handle material and where (and where not!) to display them.

Presented by Katie Lowe, Preservation Specialist

New Year Health Initiative Prepare or Update your Yellow Dot+ Information

The Yellow Dot (YD)+ Program is a voluntary health and safety program, offered through Hershey’s Mill, that provides residents with three different ways to collect and manage their personal health information often needed in emergency medical situations.

Building off the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Yellow Dot Program, the HM YD+ Program provides residents with health history forms and supplies that allow residents to collect and maintain their health history information in consistent modes and locations in their homes, vehicles, and cell phones. Yellow Dot+ packets with all forms and helpful tools were distributed to HM residents in 2024 through their Village Councils or home drop offs.
