Hershey’s Mill Dog Exercise Area Rules

The Hershey’s Mill Dog Exercise Area (DEA) is an enclosed exercise area for dog owners who are registered with the HM DEA Committee. The area is intended for residents to exercise and play with their dogs off-leash within a secure enclosure. It is not a dog park and is not intended for use by multiple owners and dogs at the same time unless specifically permitted under these rules.

All residents wishing to use the Dog Exercise Area must review the rules below, sign the acknowledgment, and return a signed copy to: HMDOGEXCOMM@HMHOA.COM.

Dog Exercise Area Rules

  1. The Dog Exercise Area is for use by Hershey’s Mill residents and their dogs only.
  2. Dogs must be full-time residents of Hershey’s Mill and registered with the DEA Committee. Guest dogs, visiting dogs, or dogs residing in Hershey’s Mill only part-time are not permitted.
  3. The Dog Exercise Area is reserved through the Hershey’s Mill scheduling calendar, SKEDDA. Residents may make one reservation per day, up to five days in advance. Reservation periods are 30-minute sessions.
  4. All reservations must begin on the hour or half-hour.
  5. Two residents may schedule consecutive reservations to allow their dogs to exercise together for up to 60 minutes total. No more than three dogs may be in the DEA at one time.
  6. If a resident cannot use a reservation, they should remove it from SKEDDA so another resident may reserve the time.
  7. Residents should not ask another resident with a current reservation if they may join them. Residents must leave promptly when their reservation period ends.
  8. The resident must remain with their dog(s) at all times.
  9. Dogs must remain on leash until they have entered the Entry Gate area, the gate is closed and secured, and the resident has confirmed that the Exit Gate is also closed.
  10. Dogs must be leashed before the Exit Gate is opened. Residents must secure the gate after exiting.
  11. Residents are responsible for the actions of their dogs at all times. Excessive barking is not permitted.
  12. Do not leave water bowls, treats, toys, or other personal items in the Dog Exercise Area when leaving.
  13. Residents must pick up after their dogs and fill in any holes dug by their dogs before leaving the area.
  14. All dogs must have a current Chester County dog license and a current rabies vaccination. Proof of both must be submitted with the signed acknowledgment form.
  15. Dogs that are ill may not use the Dog Exercise Area.
  16. These rules may be updated as necessary. Residents are expected to comply with all current rules. Updates will be published through HM News.

Failure to comply with these rules may result in suspension or loss of Dog Exercise Area privileges.
