Creating Habitat through Cut Flower Gardening

We will replay a Brandywine Conservancy presentation by Jennie Love, owner of Love ‘n Fresh Flowers, describing the value of incorporating natives into the gardening landscape. She provides a curated list of native plants ideal for garden beauty and for cutting. Hear tips for growing them and learn about the ecological benefits they provide. Share your experiences and suggestions with your gardening neighbors.

Pennsylvania Wildlife

Join environmental educator Dawn White, of Indian Run Environmental Education Center, and her animal ambassadors to learn more about our local wildlife. Meet live birds of prey and reptiles, discover their roles in our local ecosystems, and find out how we can better accommodate wildlife in our yards and neighborhoods. Dawn created IREEC providing homes for non-releasable birds of prey, mammals and reptiles that are used to inspire audiences through outreach programs.

Did you know that Pennsylvania is host to more than 30 species of fireflies?  Do you know why fireflies flash, where they live most of the year, and what we can do to support these beautiful, charismatic creatures?  Join Pennsylvania Master Naturalist, Carl Manthey, for a lively educational discussion about these remarkable beetles that are such an enjoyable part of ouSor natural heritage.

Moths in the Mill

There are over 500 species of moths in Pennsylvania.  How many of these nocturnal beauties have you seen?  Woody Kotch, a long-time West Chester resident and representative of the Xerces Society, will acquaint us with the varieties, their importance to us, and what we can do to aid them.
